A medical health camp held on Saturday by Holy Cross Orthodox Hospital and Buganda Kingdom treated over 400 people in preparation for the Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi Birthday Run scheduled for Sunday.

Services offered included testing for malaria, blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer, reflecting a commitment to making healthcare accessible to the community.

Holy Cross Mission Hospital Director, Ms Gladys Nalubega Musisi, described the turnout as overwhelming, noting that many attendees suffered from complex illnesses but avoided facilities due to costs. “People are sick and suffering with complicated illnesses but fear going to health facilities where they’re asked for money,” she said.

Archbishop Jeronymos Muzeeyi of the Orthodox Church urged the community to avoid unhealthy habits.

The Kabaka Birthday celebrations aim to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS challenges and strategies to end its spread by 2030.
