Agnes Nandutu, a former journalist turned politician and ex-State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, has been convicted of corruption by Uganda’s Anti-Corruption Court.
The court sentenced her to four years in prison for misappropriating 2,000 iron sheets designated for needy residents in the Karamoja region.
Beyond the jail term, Nandutu faces a 10-year prohibition from public office positions.
She retains a 14-day window to challenge the ruling at the High Court.
This case stems from 2023 charges authorized by Director of Public Prosecutions Justice Jane Frances Abodo against Nandutu and Amos Lugoloobi, though Lugoloobi’s charges were subsequently dismissed, leaving her as the only defendant.
