The highly anticipated derby between SC Villa and KCCA FC takes place Saturday at Kadiba Stadium in Mengo, pitting two of Uganda’s most successful clubs against each other in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

SC Villa sit fourth with 41 points from 21 matches, trailing third-placed KCCA who have 45 points. Both teams are eager to stay close to leaders Vipers after their midweek clash with Kitara.

KCCA, 13-time champions last titled in 2019, aim for a league double over Villa following their 2-1 win earlier this season. Despite a recent Uganda Cup quarterfinal loss to URA, they rely on midfielder Saidi Mayanja’s hot streak, including goals and assists in recent wins over Buhimba, Police, Express, Lugazi, and Onduparaka.

Mayanja has five league goals, joined by Sammy Ssebaduka (five goals) and top scorer Ivan Ahimbisibwe (11 goals). KCCA’s defense has conceded only 17 goals, posing a challenge for Villa’s attackers like Frank Ssebufu, Hassan Mubiru, Najib Yiga, Patrick Kakande, and Andrew Otim.

Under coach Željko Kovačević, Villa have a near-perfect home record at Kadiba while pursuing a league and cup double. The match also marks a milestone with newly elected president Omar Mandela’s arrival.

Elsewhere, bottom side Calvary host Buhimba United in a key relegation battle at 4pm, before the 8pm derby kickoff.
