The Inspectorate of Government (IGG) has successfully recovered Shs335 million from public officials involved in the irregular use of government resources for personal benefit.

This amount comes from 62 out of 202 defaulters, prompted by an earlier public notice on a total outstanding Shs2.36 billion that hampered public service delivery.

In a Thursday statement, the IGG detailed that 38 officials fully settled their dues totaling Shs214 million, while 24 others contributed Shs121 million in partial payments.

Recovery efforts continue, with two non-paying officials among the remaining 140 having surrendered properties now under valuation.

The IGG emphasized its dedication to fostering integrity, transparency, and accountability in public service, warning of criminal charges for abuse of office and non-compliance with refund orders.

These actions address rising public demands for robust measures against corruption in government.
