The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD) has made public a directory of licensed private recruitment agencies operating in Uganda. This initiative aims to protect job seekers from fraudulent firms involved in labour exploitation.

Officials emphasized that only agencies on the list hold valid licenses to recruit and place workers, both locally and abroad. Citizens are advised to cross-check any recruitment firm against this official roster before signing contracts or paying fees.

The release comes amid growing reports of exploitation, including false job promises, excessive charges, and unsafe working conditions imposed on vulnerable workers. MGLSD warns that unlicensed operators often evade regulations, putting lives at risk.

By providing this transparent list, the government seeks to empower the public and reduce incidents of abuse in the labour market.
