A heartbreaking road incident has claimed the life of Michael Musisi, a 25-year-old first-year medical student at Makerere University. The accident occurred on Thursday when he was struck by a motorcycle in Kampala.
Friends shared the news on social media, urging his relatives to identify his body at the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) mortuary.
Makerere’s Dean of Students, Dr. Winifred Kabumbuli, confirmed the tragedy, stating: “We regret to inform the University Community that Mr Musisi Michael (25/U/30482/PS), a first-year non-resident medical student, has passed away on April 8th following a motor crash.”
The university is liaising with Musisi’s family in Buyamba, Kooki, Rakai District.
This incident underscores ongoing road safety concerns. According to the 2025 Police Annual Crime Report, Uganda recorded 26,044 road crashes, including 4,602 fatal ones—a 3.8% rise from 2024—despite a drop in overall traffic cases.
