The Primary Schools Futsal League kicked off another thrilling round at Twinbrook School’s basketball court in Kiteezi, drawing parents to watch intense action packed with goals and skillful play.
Twinbrook Elementary asserted their lead with a crushing 10-2 win over Twinbrook DIT Centre, where Evans Ayiko and Danish Lumu each scored four goals, and Harrison Ssuubi added two. They kept their unbeaten streak alive with hat-tricks from Ssuubi and Lumu in a follow-up match.
Twawil Islamic shone brightly as Suudi Kisembo netted six goals in a 7-1 rout of Twinbrook DIT Centre, assisted by Fauthara Kayembe’s strike. They later battled to a tough 1-1 draw against Twinbrook Skills and Academy Centre.
Twinbrook Skills B side overwhelmed Twinbrook DIT Centre 9-3, led by Faiswar Wasswa’s five goals and Hashim Ntambi’s three. Twinbrook DIT managed some consolation through Calvin Smith and Farid Kato.
League manager Abdallah Kigozi emphasized the event’s role in blending sports with education, using young referees to nurture future officials and players with superior skills by age 16. Currently, Twinbrook fields three teams while Twawil Islamic from Kyengera participates.
Players like Primary Seven’s Ayiko praised futsal’s fast pace for boosting quick thinking and overall football ability. Coaches from Twawil and Twinbrook highlighted improvements in rules knowledge, strategy, communication, and decision-making, key for transitioning to 11-a-side games.
