The Ugandan government has unveiled a innovative mobile application designed to detect and track floods in real-time. This tool, spearheaded by the Ministry of Water and Environment, promises to revolutionize how the country responds to seasonal flooding.

With backing from key partners, the app leverages advanced technology to monitor water levels and issue timely warnings to users. It targets vulnerable areas prone to heavy rains and river overflows, enabling quicker evacuations and reduced loss of life and property.

Officials highlighted the app’s user-friendly interface, which provides live updates, risk maps, and safety tips. Early adoption is encouraged among residents in flood hotspots like the Lake Victoria basin and River Nile regions.

This initiative aligns with broader efforts to combat climate change impacts through digital solutions.
