Fraudsters on social media are getting smarter, according to Ugandan IT professionals. They now use clever methods to trick people into sharing personal details or money.

Common scams include fake job offers, romance cons, and urgent pleas from ‘friends’ in trouble. These often start with messages promising quick cash or love.

Experts advise verifying anyone asking for funds or info. Never click suspicious links or send money to unconfirmed contacts.

Strengthen your accounts with strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication. Regularly check privacy settings to limit who sees your posts.

Stay alert to phishing attempts disguised as bank alerts or government notices. Report scams immediately to platforms and authorities.
