The men’s National Volleyball League finals, set to kick off Wednesday night between Sport-S and Elyon at Old Kampala Arena, have been postponed indefinitely.
This follows a letter from the National Council of Sports (NCS) to the Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) on April 7, seeking written confirmation within three working days on the rules behind UVF’s semifinal decision.
The dispute arose from Nemostars’ 2-1 semifinal win over Elyon on court, but Elyon petitioned over the eligibility of players Salva Marial and Federicko Mujinya. A UVF committee ruled the players were not properly registered—Marial lacked an International Transfer Certificate as a South Sudanese national, and Mujinya had not transferred from Bishop Stuart University.
UVF announced the cancellation Wednesday morning, citing NCS’s request for details on internal dispute mechanisms, fair hearing principles, and steps to resolve the issue.
Meanwhile, the women’s finals continue, with KCCA holding a 1-0 lead over Vision Volleyball Camp in Game Two Wednesday evening.
A new date for the men’s finals will be announced after consultations.
