Express FC, once dominant with 10 Uganda Cup titles and seven UPL championships, crashed out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after a 3-0 loss to Kitara in Hoima. The match exposed their frailties, with George Ssenkaaba scoring twice and Emmanuel Wasswa adding one under coach Wasswa Bbosa.
The defeat stings more as Kitara’s key players like Ssenkaaba, Wasswa, Issa Lumu, Bbosa, and others are former Express stars, underscoring the club’s talent drain. While Vipers, Kitara, and SC Villa chase honors, Express chase relevance, mirroring KCCA’s cup exit but without league hopes.
Tenth in the UPL with 23 points from 21 games, Express host sixth-placed Police (35 points) at Nakivubo today, fighting for pride. Leaders Vipers lead by 27 points. Elsewhere, eighth-placed Bul (30 points) face Maroons (26 points) at Luzira.
