YMCA is set to create history in the Pepsi University Football League semifinals, facing off against Kampala University this afternoon at FUFA Kadiba Stadium. What started as an underdog campaign has become one of the season’s standout tales, fueled by resilience and discipline.

The ‘Chartered boys’ have earned respect through consistent results rather than hype. Head coach Francisco Ejuku has shaped this rise, fostering a do-or-die mindset. This was clear in their 1-0 second-leg quarterfinal win over Kumi, securing a 2-1 aggregate triumph. ‘We are ready and will give everything, just like all season,’ Ejuku stated.

Kampala University, the Flying Eagles, brings pedigree with past titles in 2013 and 2016. They scraped through to the semis in a tough tie against Bugema University, drawing 1-1 away and 0-0 at home to advance on away goals. Coach Vincent Tumusiime warned, ‘All semifinal teams are strong; we must double our efforts for the final.’

Tactical battles will be key, with midfield dominance and defensive solidity likely deciding the first-leg outcome. YMCA’s structured approach meets KU’s aggressive push in this emotional showdown.
