Police in Soroti City have advanced their probe into the killing of Patricia Kokunda, a 32-year-old mobile money operator. On April 3, 2026, assailants dragged her from a taxi along Station Road near Goalman Supermarket, robbed her of cash, and shot her multiple times.

She was rushed to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital but succumbed to severe blood loss soon after arrival.

Three suspects guided investigators through the crime scene, detailing their plot hatched in Moruapesur Ward. They moved via YY bus park, Pioneer Primary School boda stage, and finally to the spot near Goalman Supermarket, before splitting the loot in Aminit.

East Kyoga RPC Ibrahim Saiga stated the team aimed to clarify each suspect’s role. The group confessed after targeting Kokunda due to her market routines and lack of other opportunities.

Officers recovered Shs7,000,000 from Simon Epeu, a suspect from Anyara in Kalaki District. All involved are in custody and face charges of aggravated robbery and murder by shooting.

Saiga hailed the arrests as a key step toward justice, vowing continued protection for Ugandans.
