Ugandan church leaders delivered powerful Easter sermons on April 5, 2026, encouraging believers to counter daily hardships with hope and discipline.

In Ntungamo District’s St Matthew’s Cathedral Kyamate, South Ankole Anglican Bishop Rt Rev Nathan Ahimbisibwe highlighted the flood of negative news like property destruction, theft, and loss. He urged Christians to become ‘good news’ bearers, promoting compassion, resilience, and hard work in agriculture despite financial pressures.

Bishop Ahimbisibwe drew from the resurrection story, assuring that challenges would pass as true hope emerges, just as it did for Jesus’ disciples.

Meanwhile, in Soroti City at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bishop Rev Fr Joseph Eciru Oliach of Soroti Catholic Diocese targeted alcoholism. He rebuked Catholics for leading drinking culture, calling them to reject drunkenness and invite Jesus for spiritual renewal.

Bishop Eciru stressed that Easter followers should embody joy, peace, harmony, truth, and fearless faith. Congregants like Mary Nabude and Norah Ameo praised the call for reform, agreeing Christians must set positive examples.

These messages framed Easter as a time for moral and social rebuilding amid Uganda’s tough times.
