Grace Kasango Dominates POA Golf Series at Entebbe Club

Grace Kasango delivered a masterful performance to claim the Pearl of Africa (POA) Golf Series leg at Entebbe Club over the Easter weekend. Originally from Jinja and now with Uganda Golf Club in Kitante, the 28-year-old pro maintained his lead wire-to-wire on the par-71 course.
Kasango posted rounds of 67, 69, and a final 68 for a total of nine-under 204, pocketing the largest share of the Shs27 million prize pool. He fended off a strong challenge from Phillip Kasozi, who finished at six-under 207.
On the final day, Kasango birdied the par-3 16th, saved par after trouble on the tough par-4 17th, and sealed the win with a birdie on the par-5 18th. Kasozi faltered with bogeys on 16 and 18, including a bunker mishap on the last.
“This is the sweetest victory,” Kasango said post-round, crediting his driving, short game, and steady tempo. Starting golf at age five, he turned pro in 2022 after moving to Kampala, marking his fifth professional win.
Kasango led by five shots after 10 holes on Saturday but faced pressure as Kasozi eagled 11 and birdied the next three, tying at the 15th. He regrouped to pull ahead decisively.
Vincent Byamukama took third at four-under 209, with Rodell Gaita and Ronald Rugumayo tying for fourth. In the amateurs, Joseph Cwinyaai led with 210.
