Pamela Turyatunga developed an early passion for environmental conservation and youth wellbeing, which guided her education at Immaculate Heart Girls’ School Nyakibale and led to a Master of Science in Forestry from Makerere University.

Now serving as sustainability manager at Absa Bank Uganda—formerly Barclays—she integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into banking operations. Her work promotes financial inclusion, climate action, and diversity, emphasizing that “everyone matters in their own way.”

Since joining the bank in 2012, Turyatunga has advanced through roles that expand the institution’s social and environmental responsibilities. She collaborates with organizations like Reach A Hand Uganda on youth empowerment programs and supports initiatives such as helping students at Beila College in Fort Portal return to school.

Beyond banking, she authored Alyvea during the Covid-19 lockdown to guide young people in decision-making, finding joy in readers’ stories of positive change. Turyatunga also pursues continuous learning, including a diploma from Hald International Centre in Norway and certifications in business sustainability from Cambridge University.

On the global stage, she represents Uganda at forums like One Young World, bringing insights back to local communities. Balancing her roles as a mother of two and professional, she relies on delegation and clear boundaries to maintain focus and motivation through visible impacts.
