Iran Hints at Peace Talks Amid Search for Downed US Pilot

Iranian troops are actively searching southwestern regions for a US pilot who ejected from a downed aircraft, as the US-Iran war marks its sixth week. One F-15E jet was shot down over Iran, and an A-10 Warthog crashed in Kuwait after sustaining Iranian fire, with two crew members already rescued.

US Black Hawk helicopters aiding the search faced Iranian attacks but escaped. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has vowed rewards for capturing the pilot, boosting morale among locals battered by US and Israeli airstrikes.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi expressed gratitude to Pakistan for mediation efforts, stating Iran has not rejected talks in Islamabad but insists on terms ending the ‘illegal war.’ This comes after President Trump threatened severe bombings, despite low US public support and economic strains.

Saturday saw fresh strikes on a southwestern petrochemical zone, injuring five, and a projectile strike near Bushehr nuclear plant, killing one without disrupting operations. Araqchi warned of radioactive risks to Gulf states. Israel reported hits on Tehran, while the war has claimed 13 US lives and thousands overall, including Iran’s Supreme Leader.

Iran partially eased Strait of Hormuz restrictions for essential goods, amid a global energy crisis. EU finance ministers proposed taxing energy firms’ windfall profits, as oil prices surged.
