Prominent Ugandan singer Joshua Baraka has called out fellow musicians for prioritizing public spats over their creative output.
In a candid statement, he questioned the obsession with commenting on every industry matter, particularly other artists’ careers and success. ‘Why don’t you just keep quiet and do music? If you’re an artist, make art—let it speak,’ Baraka remarked.
He lamented the transformation of music into mere public relations exercises, expressing exhaustion with the trend. ‘Music has become PR, and I’m tired. We should all go back to the studio. Enough is enough,’ he declared.
While recognizing that opinions are valid, Baraka advised restraint. ‘Do you have to have an opinion on everything? Let’s leave some of these things for listeners to debate,’ he suggested.
Ultimately, he urged artists to demonstrate their worth through their craft. ‘Just convince us with your music… anyway, let me also go back to the studio.’
