Allan Ssekamatte, once the Sports Editor at Daily Monitor, passed away on April 1, 2026, at Kiruddu Hospital in Kampala after struggling with heart issues.

Ssekamatte left a lasting mark on sports journalism in Uganda, advancing from roles at Daily Monitor and stations like Monitor FM and KFM.

His career also included stints at the now-defunct WBS TV, Razor newspaper, and PML Daily. He contributed as a columnist for Saturday Monitor until last year, often sharing predictions with a clear favoritism for Chelsea in the English Premier League.
