Uganda is intensifying its push into the Chinese market by displaying high-quality coffee, tea, and dairy at the HOTELEX Shanghai 2026 exhibition. The event, coordinated by the Ugandan Embassy in Beijing, featured a special national pavilion named ‘From the Source of the Nile to the Streets of Shanghai.’
This initiative targets hospitality and retail buyers in China, offering direct links for Ugandan exporters. Attendees enjoyed live coffee cupping sessions with Arabica and Robusta varieties, plus tastings of specialty teas and dairy items aimed at hotels, distributors, and online platforms.
A dedicated B2B trade desk provided guidance on tariff-free imports and partnerships. Cultural shows highlighted Uganda’s heritage and tourism to enhance appeal.
Ambassador Oliver Wonekha emphasized the expo’s role in strengthening ties. ‘This platform showcases our product quality and partnership strength, positioning Uganda as a premium agricultural supplier to China,’ he stated.
The effort aligns with Uganda’s goals to diversify exports, boost value addition in key sectors like coffee—its leading export—and leverage China’s market access policies.
HOTELEX Shanghai is a major Asia-Pacific trade fair for food, beverages, and hospitality.
