Over 100 Suspects Detained in Kampala Pre-Easter Security Sweep

Uganda Police have detained over 100 individuals following a series of nighttime operations in the Kampala Metropolitan area.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala explained that these actions are designed to secure the Easter holidays, allowing citizens to celebrate without fear. She noted intensified patrols, visible policing, and intelligence-led disruptions throughout the region.

The arrests were distributed as follows: 23 in Entebbe division, 36 in Mukono District, 24 in Old Kampala, 14 in Katwe division, and 11 in Kiira Division. Police recovered exhibits such as dry marijuana leaves, rolled sticks, and fresh plant materials, along with other items.

All suspects remain in custody awaiting court proceedings, with operations set to continue for safer Easter festivities.
