From Childhood Friends to Forever: She Laughed Off His Proposal, Now They're Married

Sharon Judith Nakayenze initially dismissed Eric Samson Makafu's marriage proposal as a joke from their childhood friendship, but persistent communication and faith turned it into reality. Eric Samson Makafu and Sharon Judith Nakayenze grew up together in the same church community, sharing hymnbooks, birthdays, and innocent laughter. Romance was nowhere in sight back then, just a comfortable friendship.

Life separated them for years with different schools and paths. But in 2018, post-graduation, they reconnected via calls and messages. Eric boldly declared his intention to marry her, prompting Sharon’s laughter—she thought it was playful banter.

Despite the distance—Eric was back in school—they nurtured their bond through steady talks. What Eric cherishes in Sharon: her smarts, beauty, faith, kindness, and caring nature. Sharon admires his patience, generosity, ambition, and rock-solid faith.

Courtship felt natural, evolving from friendship. Eric proposed twice: first privately, then publicly with her friends, leaving her breathless.

Their introduction on November 20, 2022, battled heavy rain for hours, soaking everyone, yet they pressed on successfully. Weeks later, on December 18, family support powered their wedding at Court View Hotel, Mbale, with 1,500 guests in blue tones—no rain, pure joy.

Eric treasures seeing Sharon in white and their vows; she loved the aisle walk with family and mothers dancing at the reception.

They stay strong through patience, love, family prayer, and becoming one. Advice: Prioritize God, don’t rush—let His timing guide.

Details: Celebrant Pr Jimmy Kajura, Mbale Central SDA Church.
