Uganda celebrated the swift completion of Hoima City Stadium, a key venue for the 2027 AFCON hosted by East Africa. The facility even hosted a match successfully, with officials hailing it as world-class.

However, CAF inspectors delivered a harsh verdict, pinpointing multiple shortcomings. Fans can access VIP areas too easily, team benches obstruct spectator views, and the media section is too cramped for major tournaments. The mixed zone setup also lacks proper organization.

Beyond the stadium, CAF raised concerns about Hoima’s overall readiness. Roads to the venue fall short, luxury hotels are scarce—far from the five-star standard required—and airport handling raises doubts.

Ugandan leaders remain optimistic, vowing to address all issues before the crucial August re-inspection. SUMMA confidence is high, but CAF’s standards demand swift action.
