Sebei Cultural Leaders Spearhead Fight Against FGM with New Curriculum

Cultural leaders from the Sebei region are taking bold action against female genital mutilation (FGM) by introducing a new curriculum. This program has received full endorsement from the council of clan elders, aiming to steer communities toward alternative rites that ensure safety.

The curriculum focuses on transitioning from harmful FGM practices to culturally acceptable methods that do not endanger lives, particularly those of young girls. It emphasizes education and community involvement to foster lasting change.

Local leaders highlight that this move respects Sebei traditions while prioritizing health and human rights. Efforts are underway to roll out training sessions across affected areas.
