Arnold Anthony Mukose, known for his work with Digital Talk, has been formally charged with disseminating false and alarming information claiming the death of Uganda’s First Lady, Janet Kataha Museveni.
The arrest followed his appearance on a Metro FM radio talk show over the weekend. Operatives from the Joint Anti-Terrorism Task Force reportedly raided his Lukuli-Nanganda residence and held him at Old Kampala Police Division.
On Monday, he faced Grade One Magistrate Ivan Maloba at the Law Development Centre Court. Prosecutor Rachel Namutebi stated that between March 26 and 29, Mukose and unidentified others shared the misleading report via the Digital Talk channel, violating Section 110(e) of the Uganda Communications Commission Act, 2019.
Mukose pleaded not guilty. His legal team, Kato Tumusiime and Kakulu Tumusiime, sought bail, which was tentatively granted but deferred after the prosecution requested time to check the sureties’ details.
The case is adjourned to April 14, 2026, with Mukose remanded to Luzira Prison in the interim.
