Moses Anguyo, a warder at Kiboga Prisons, has been brought back to Uganda following his arrest in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Security teams from Uganda and DRC collaborated to nab him in Aru town on Saturday.

Extradited via Vurra in Arua district, Anguyo was handed over to police and prison officials at Kiboga central police station. His two brothers and girlfriend were also detained, as their tips helped locate him.

The shocking incident unfolded on February 23, 2026, when Anguyo allegedly fired at his superiors after a warning about using WhatsApp on duty. He killed assistant superintendent Hope Catherine, deputy officer Bright Akishuri, the officer in charge’s wife Sarah Ayebare, and a one-year-old boy, Salson Nuwagaba, hit by a stray bullet.

Anguyo ditched his uniform, changed clothes at a nearby shop, and fled. A multi-agency manhunt involving police, prisons, and UPDF lasted over three weeks, boosted by a Shs 10 million reward from Uganda Prisons Service.

He is set to answer murder charges soon.
