Musician Patrick Mulwana, widely recognized as Alien Skin, and six members of his Fangone Forest crew have been granted police bond following their detention over various charges.

The arrests occurred on Friday at Wankulukuku Stadium in Kampala, after a performance during an NRM patriotism event. Military and traffic police apprehended them for offenses including reckless driving, operating without a permit or number plate, illegal siren use, and assaulting an officer.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachel Kawala listed the other suspects: DJ Ryan Kategaya, mechanic Jorum Konya, driver Rashid Kato, producer Alex Mugema, security head Julius Mugabi, and Gerald Ssenyonyi, all from the Fangone Forest group.

The group avoided court appearance thanks to intervention from Hellen Seku, the president’s private secretary for youth affairs and a patriotism corps commissioner. Seku stated, ‘The Fangone family is mine, and I’m your mother. I couldn’t leave you in custody.’

Alien Skin’s group has a history of run-ins with authorities. Last October, he was connected to the death of dancer Wilfred Namuwaya and surrendered at Katwe police. Police outcomes remain undisclosed. A recent video showed him ordering mock-military salutes, sparking backlash.

Additionally, in 2024, Fangone members allegedly attacked Nsambya Hospital staff demanding forms for an injured colleague, leading to Alien Skin’s brief remand and court bail.
