A team of Ugandan business leaders, headed by National Resistance Movement (NRM) Deputy Secretary General Rose Namayanja Nsereko, recently visited Lusaka and held talks with Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema. The discussions opened doors for land acquisition and streamlined investments across key sectors.

Zambian authorities committed to providing land and simplifying processes via agencies like the Zambia Development Agency. Some Ugandan firms have started registrations, with others already active in manufacturing and hospitality.

Focus areas include agriculture, grain milling, construction, education, and manufacturing. Notably, agro-processors, maize millers, goat farmers, poultry, and aquaculture ventures have locked in land deals. Construction companies like Hallmark are eyeing Zambia’s need for 15,000 housing units.

President Hichilema highlighted stronger Uganda-Zambia trade links and African-led economic growth. This aligns with the African Continental Free Trade Area’s push for continental markets.

Uganda’s new consular services in Zambia will further support business operations and trade.

The moves signal Ugandan firms expanding regionally amid calls for deeper African integration.
