The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Kingdom has completed all arrangements for the return of its monarch, Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma, on Friday, March 27. The king, who left for Istanbul on October 13, 2025, for advanced medical treatment, marks his first physical return to Kasese since then.
He arrived back in Uganda on December 22, 2025, but stayed in Kampala for recovery, missing key events like his 59th coronation anniversary and the inaugural Omusinga Marathon for his 78th birthday.
According to a program signed by Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale, Mumbere will arrive by road around 2:00 PM. Supporters will greet him at Rwimi Bridge, the border between Kasese and Bunyangabu districts, before a procession to Rwenzori Square Gardens for a public address, then to his residence in Kamaiba Lower Cell.
Kingdom spokesperson Geoffrey Barack Kanyonyi confirmed the rescheduling from Thursday to Friday, with logistics now ready. Local figures like content creator Jocknus Bwambale and PFF Chairperson Saul Maate have rallied residents for a massive turnout.
The homecoming is expected to boost cultural activities, unity among the Bakonzo, and community development in the Rwenzori region.
