Nyabushozi County, home to President Yoweri Museveni’s rural base in Kiruhura District, delivered a flawless 100% vote for the long-serving leader in the January 2026 presidential election. Re-elected MP Wilson Kajwengye of the NRM insists this outcome is expected, given the constituents’ consistent support since 1986.

Kajwengye, who chaired the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee in the 11th Parliament, highlights Museveni’s role in shifting the area’s pastoralists toward modern agriculture. ‘He found them as nomads and taught them to settle and farm profitably,’ he said, explaining the deep gratitude that drives unanimous turnout and votes.

Addressing the Bobi Wine rally clash in November 2025, Kajwengye claims NUP supporters initiated violence in Sanga after changing routes unannounced. Locals, carrying traditional sticks, remained peaceful despite alleged beatings and thefts, with cases now in court.

On Museveni’s national stature, Kajwengye stresses he serves all Ugandans, not just Nyabushozi. He defends high voter loyalty as genuine, not impossible, and notes even elders vote solely for the president before leaving other races undecided.

Defending the UPDF Amendment Act, he argues it targets civilians conspiring with soldiers using military weapons, questioning fears among law-abiders. He recounts advocating for his cattle-keeping voters by securing Foot and Mouth Disease vaccines and resolving Kenyan milk export issues.

Kajwengye returns to the 12th Parliament proud of his record, ready for the upcoming budget process.
