Prominent events promoter Nobat Events is vying for a position in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), based in Tanzania. He collected his nomination forms earlier this week to represent Uganda in the regional body.
In a recent TV interview, Nobat shared that his campaign is gaining strong momentum. “I have the support and already convinced most senior members to cast their votes in my favour. I will win with a huge margin come April 15,” he declared confidently.
Uganda’s Parliament has scheduled nominations for March 30th and 31st. The seats opened up after the 2026 General Elections, as incumbents Dennis Namara and James Kakooza won national parliamentary positions.
EAC Treaty rules prohibit holding both national and regional assembly roles simultaneously. Voting for new EALA members is slated for April 15, with multiple contenders in the fray.
