Nam Blazers Hit Six Wins, UCU Lady Canons Stay Unbeaten in NBL Action

Namuwongo Blazers, the defending champions, continued their dominance in the National Basketball League by securing a sixth consecutive victory. They defeated Rezlife Saints 73-56 at Abja Park in Naalya on Wednesday night, improving to a 6-1 record.

Moses Mugisha topped the scoring with 21 points, supported by Henry Ssebagala’s 13 and 11 points each from Peter Obleng and Arthur Wanyoto. The Blazers pulled ahead in the third quarter, leading 39-37 midway through before dominating the final period 23-13. Rezlife, missing guard Michael Othieno, saw Kevin Moru and Duot Ajang score 14 points each in the loss, marking their second defeat.

In women’s action at Lugogo, UCU Lady Canons preserved their unbeaten streak at eight games, beating UPDF Lady Tomahawks 66-55. Matrina Anyango led with 12 points, Christine Saima added 11, and Zoe Atek contributed 10 for coach Nicholas Natuhereza’s team. UPDF fell to 4-6, with Patricia Cate Nakiru’s 16 points and Ruth Letaru’s 14 not enough.

UCU Canons men’s team rebounded from a recent loss to KCCA Pathers, cruising past JKL Dolphins 81-52. Alier Pech Lier Jongroor scored a game-high 15 points as UCU led throughout, dropping JKL to 2-7.
