High Court in Kampala saw a packed courtroom on Thursday as murder suspect Molly Katanga made a rare in-person appearance to kick off her defence.

Around 10:30am, prison wardresses escorted Ms Katanga into the room, supporting her as she took her seat. This is the first time in more than a year she has physically attended, having participated remotely from Luzira Prison owing to poor health.

Katanga faces charges of killing her husband, businessman Henry Katanga, on November 2, 2023. The case, which has captured significant public attention, also involves her daughters Martha Nkwanzi and Patricia Kakwanzi, along with a former shamba boy.

Judge Rosette Comfort Kania soon entered to begin the session, with the room staying full amid keen interest in the proceedings.
