The High Court in Masaka City delivered its ruling on March 26, 2026, resolving a family dispute over the burial sites of businessman Bosco Ssenyonjo and his two children, who died in a road crash on the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway on March 16.
Justice Victoria Nakintu Katamba ordered Ssenyonjo’s body to be interred at the ancestral grounds in Kyalusowe, Nyendo-Mukungwe, honoring the wishes of his mother, Maria Noah Nakayiza. The children, Simon Trevor Ssenyonjo and Sherina Nankindu, will be buried the next day at the family home in Mpugwe, Nyendo-Mukungwe.
The judge further instructed medical personnel to collect and preserve a DNA sample from Ssenyonjo’s body at Kitovu Hospital, under the Medical Superintendent’s oversight, for any future court-approved purposes.
Emphasizing unity in grief, Justice Katamba urged families to prioritize reconciliation during times of loss, noting that death should unite rather than divide, with disputes addressed post-burial.
The ruling came after failed mediation attempts, with the widow Jane Nabukera seeking court intervention on March 18 via lawyer Alexander Lule. Bodies, held at Kitovu Funeral Home, are set to be released for mourning in Kasana, Nyendo, ahead of burials per the court’s directive.
Clan leader Richard Musajja Akawa announced a family meeting to finalize arrangements, stressing unity. Friends like John Bosco Tteesi expressed relief at the ancestral burial decision.
