Musician Ibrahim Mayanja, known as Big Eye, has challenged Eddy Kenzo’s prominent role in the recent Copyright Amendment Bill passage.
In a recent interview, Big Eye stated that credit belongs to several artists, not just one. He pointed out Cindy Sanyu’s early efforts through the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) as foundational.
Big Eye also praised Hilderman for bringing the issue to Parliament, which ignited crucial debates. ‘I don’t think all the credit should go to him. It should also be given to other people including Cindy who started it under UMA. Dr. Hilderman should also be credited for kick-starting the discussion in Parliament,’ he remarked.
Amid his past tensions with Kenzo, Big Eye stressed the collective nature of the success following Parliament’s approval of the bill.
