Uganda’s Cricket Cranes face Namibia in the second and final 50-over match on Wednesday at the FNB Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek, hoping to bounce back from a heavy 173-run loss in the opener.
Namibia posted 303/8, powered by Gerhard Erasmus’s explosive 88 off 47 balls featuring seven sixes, along with contributions from Jan Frylinck (44), Loureen Steenkamp (30), and Dylan Leicher (39). Uganda crumbled to 130 all out, undone by Ruben Trumpelmann’s new-ball burst of 4/27.
The defeat highlighted familiar issues: early bowling promise fading and a batting lineup lacking composure under pressure. Following a 2-1 T20 series loss, Uganda seeks all-around improvement.
All-rounder Kenneth Waiswa is confident in the bowlers’ potential. “Pound for pound, our bowlers can compete and do better, but we must be consistent and finish strongly,” he said. He stressed the batsmen’s need to build partnerships and convert starts.
Opening batsman Simon Ssesazi called for more grinding at the crease. “We need to stay longer, build partnerships, and apply lessons from Namibia’s game management.”
Head coach Steve Tikolo demanded greater intensity. “Show character, fight harder, and take responsibility,” he urged, with eyes on upcoming events like the ICC T20 World Cup Sub Regional Qualifier in Nigeria and CWC Challenge League B in Tanzania.
The big question remains: Can Uganda’s top order absorb pressure and forge match-defining stands?
