Fifteen-year-old Rwandan cricketer Fanny Utagushimaninde made history at the Nigeria Invitational Women’s T20I Tournament in Lagos. She became the youngest ever to score a T20 international century, aged just 15 years and 223 days.
Opening the batting, Utagushimaninde remained unbeaten on 111 runs from 65 balls, powering Rwanda to a dominant 122-run victory against Ghana on Saturday.
This knock surpassed the previous mark set by Uganda’s Prosscovia Alako, who achieved 116 against Mali in Kigali in 2019 at 16 years and 233 days. Utagushimaninde also etched her name as the first woman to hit a century on T20I debut.
For context, France’s Gustav Mckeon holds the men’s record, scoring his ton at 18 years and 280 days.
