Muslim communities across West Nile sub-region joyfully observed Eid al-Fitr, with leaders issuing strong appeals for environmental stewardship and social harmony.

In Arua District, Khadi Sheikh Abujafar Shaban emphasized mercy towards all people regardless of race, kindness to animals, and peaceful neighborly relations. He stressed that piety is the only true distinguisher among humanity.

This message resonates amid rampant environmental damage, including tree felling, which has triggered drastic weather changes. Past conservation initiatives have yielded minimal results.

In Adjumani, Resident District Commissioner Swaib Toko linked Islamic morality to environmental care, condemning tree destruction as immoral and warning of its consequences. ‘If you cut trees without replanting, you are immoral,’ he stated.

Madi Muslims District Khadi Sheikh Baiga Ramadan advocated for unity through hard work and community service, encouraging youth to support families and neighbors.

Yumbe District Khadi Sheikh Swaib Alahai Aciga praised government-led peace efforts and urged youth to shun theft, particularly rampant motorcycle robberies, calling for heightened security.

In Koboko, Sheikh Abdullahi Rajab and UMSC Education Secretary Kalili Juma called for sustaining Ramadan’s discipline, embracing education, poverty programs, and unity for progress.
