Ugandan rugby enthusiasts are eager to see if local clubs can measure up against regional powerhouses in the 2026 Enterprise Cup. The quarterfinals pit Uganda’s 2025 Uganda Cup semifinalists against Kenya’s top sides, promising fierce competition.
At Wankulukuku Stadium, Heathens take on pre-tournament favorites Kabras Sugar at 2pm, while Black Pirates face KCB Rugby at 4pm. Meanwhile, in Nakuru, Kobs meet Nondescripts at 2pm, and Buffaloes clash with Menengai Oilers at 4pm.
The Enterprise Cup, established in 1930, holds a storied history but limited success for Uganda. Kampala Rugby Club remains the sole Ugandan winner, lifting the trophy in 1956, 1968, 1969, and 1970. Ugandan teams have since struggled, often exiting early or withdrawing from the event.
Kabras Sugar enters unbeaten in 52 matches, aiming for a fourth straight Kenya Cup title and more Enterprise Cup dominance. KCB seeks to end a decade-long drought. Heathens coach Tolbert Onyango emphasized competing seriously, not just testing waters.
Winners advance to semifinals on April 11, with the final on May 30. Kenya Rugby Union eyes expanding the cup to a pan-African event including Zimbabwe and Zambia.
