Kawempe Muslim secured a convincing 2-0 win against rivals She Corporate in the FWSL, thanks to Jovia Nakagolo’s early goal and assist for substitute Kevin Nanyunja’s late strike. Coach Ayub Khalifa highlighted the squad’s mental strength post-match.
“We have players that understand what they want,” Khalifa stated, noting tactical adjustments on a soggy pitch by shifting Latifah Nakasi to midfield and bringing on Nanyunja for Dorcus Kisakye to exploit the opposition defense.
New signing Aminah Nakato earned player of the match honors against her former club, with standout performances also from Hadijah Babirye, Samalie Nakacwa, goalkeeper Saidah Namwanje, Krusm Namutebi, and Nakagolo.
“When you know where you want to go, it is easy to do whatever you can to get there,” Khalifa added, emphasizing their focus despite juggling league games and regional tournaments.
Upcoming fixtures include an away trip to Amus College on March 21, where last season’s visit ended 1-1; Amus has a mixed home record this season with three wins, four draws, and a recent 1-0 loss to She Corporate. Kawempe then hosts Lady Doves on March 29, faces Asubo away on April 4 amid UMEA Solidarity Games, visits unbeaten foe Makerere University on April 12, hosts Rines on April 25, travels to Kampala Queens on May 10, and ends with Olila at home on May 17.
Khalifa hopes his side maintains their edge through this demanding run.
