Israel’s military announced fresh airstrikes targeting key infrastructure deep inside Tehran on Friday, marking a bold escalation despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent urging to avoid hitting Iranian energy assets.

The ongoing U.S.-Israeli campaign against Iran, sparked by failed nuclear talks on February 28, has resulted in thousands of deaths, spread to neighboring countries, and severely impacted global markets.

An Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson confirmed the operation without specifics, coming a day after Trump publicly advised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against repeating strikes on facilities like Iran’s South Pars gas field—a move Israel conducted independently.

Iran retaliated by damaging Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, a hub for one-fifth of global LNG, with repairs expected to take years and costing billions. Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea port also faced attacks amid the Strait of Hormuz disruptions.

Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAE reported early Friday missile barrages, while Israeli media noted an Iranian strike on Haifa’s oil facilities causing damage but no deaths.

Trump highlighted coordination gaps, noting U.S. objectives focus on Iran’s missiles and navy, differing from Israel’s aim to cripple leadership. Iran’s military warned of unending attacks on allied energy infrastructure if provocations continue.

European nations and Japan pledged support for securing the Strait—vital for 20% of world oil—but emphasized action only post-hostilities, as oil prices fluctuated amid U.S. production boosts.
