TikTokers and social media influencers in Uganda are thrilled following the Constitutional Court’s decision to invalidate the Computer Misuse (Amendment) Act, 2022. The court ruled the law void because Parliament failed to meet quorum requirements and did not adhere to proper procedures, breaching constitutional standards.

This landmark judgment has brought relief to many content creators previously prosecuted under the controversial legislation. TikToker Frank Ntambi voiced his joy, stating the act was designed to silence critics and undermine free expression in a democratic society.

Fellow influencers like Cephco and Luwilight, who also faced charges, have praised the ruling. The decision is seen as a major win for digital freedom, easing restrictions that many deemed overly harsh on online expression.
