African Governments Urged to Boost Funding for Cancer Research

African leaders are being urged to allocate more resources to cancer research as the disease continues to surge in prevalence. Prof Mansoor Saleh, who leads the Department of Haematology Oncology at Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), emphasized this during a recent address.
He pointed out that most African countries face significant challenges in combating cancer due to limited research funding and infrastructure. Saleh stressed that government investment is crucial for developing effective treatments and improving survival rates.
The call comes as cancer cases rise, underscoring the need for proactive measures in public health policy.
