KCCA and NEC secured their spots in the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinals with dominant home performances on Tuesday. Playing at Phillip Omondi Stadium, they comfortably eliminated Onduparaka and Lugazi respectively in the round-of-16 ties.
KCCA delivered a resounding 5-0 thrashing of Onduparaka. Sammy Sebaduka opened the scoring in the 21st minute, finishing a precise cutback from Saidi Mayanja at the far post. Mayanja doubled the lead eight minutes later, volleying in a header from Ivan Ahimbisibwe.
The second half saw KCCA pile on the goals. Substitute Emmanuel Anyama tapped in from Lazaro Muhindo’s low cross, followed by Alex Yiga’s strike off Anyama’s deflected pass in the 74th minute. Anyama sealed the rout with a headed free-kick from debutant Axel Mezui in the 90th minute.
This win marks KCCA’s seventh consecutive victory, boosting their momentum. Onduparaka, struggling in the Big League, posed little threat, with their best chance ruled out for offside.
Meanwhile, NEC edged Lugazi 2-0 to progress, though specific goal details were not highlighted.
Both teams now face stiffer opposition in the last eight.
