Engine stalling on braking typically stems from disruptions in air intake, fuel supply, or transmission coordination. As the throttle closes during deceleration, the engine must smoothly idle; any glitch can cause it to cut out.

Airflow management faults are frequent culprits. A clogged or faulty Idle Air Control (IAC) valve fails to supply enough air when the throttle shuts, starving the engine.
