Manchester United bolstered their Premier League top-four ambitions with a convincing 3-1 home win against Aston Villa on Sunday. Goals from Casemiro, Matheus Cunha, and substitute Benjamin Sesko sealed the points for the third-placed side, who now sit on 54 points after 30 matches, three clear of Villa in fourth.

Casemiro headed United ahead from a Bruno Fernandes corner in the 53rd minute, with Ross Barkley equalizing shortly after. Cunha restored the lead in the 71st, assisted by Fernandes’ 100th for the club, before Sesko’s powerful finish. The result extends interim boss Michael Carrick’s strong run, prompting talk of a permanent role, though he dismissed the speculation.

In contrast, Liverpool’s hopes of climbing into fourth faded with a frustrating 1-1 draw versus struggling Tottenham. Dominik Szoboszlai’s superb 18th-minute free-kick had Anfield dreaming of victory, but Richarlison’s 90th-minute equalizer—his fifth at the venue—sparked boos from the crowd.

The point moved Liverpool to 49 points in fifth, above Chelsea, while Tottenham, winless in 12 league games, stayed one point above relegation with 30. Interim manager Igor Tudor hailed the team’s spirit as a potential turning point.

Relegation battlers Nottingham Forest drew 0-0 with Fulham to escape the drop zone on goal difference, despite a disallowed strike. Leeds United, 15th, also held Crystal Palace 0-0 despite a red card to Gabriel Gudmundsson.
