A tragic accident on Sunday morning claimed the lives of David Mukembo, a Real Bus Company driver, and his unidentified conductor. Their bus lost control and slammed into the back of an Isuzu truck along the Kampala-Gulu highway in Kiwumpa village, Luwero town.

The incident happened around 4:00 am as both vehicles headed from Luwero towards Kampala. Two unidentified male passengers suffered injuries and were rushed to Luwero General Hospital, while others in both vehicles escaped without harm.

Savannah Regional police spokesperson Sam Twiineamazima confirmed the details. The deceased’s bodies were conveyed to Luwero General Hospital mortuary for postmortem, and the wrecked vehicles were towed to Luwero central police station for investigation.

This crash highlights persistent dangers on the Luwero-Nakasongola stretch, where fatal accidents occur nearly weekly. Police attribute them to reckless driving, drunk driving, and narrow roads. Just last Sunday, four St Peter’s Naalya Secondary School students were injured in a similar incident in Nakasongola involving a school coaster and a fuel tanker.
