The 2026 Uganda Rugby Premiership reaches its midway point this Saturday, but focus is turning to the revived Enterprise Cup, East Africa’s oldest club competition. Quarterfinals next week pit Ugandan clubs against Kenyan opponents for the first time in years.

Stanbic Black Pirates, Platinum Credit Heathens, KCB Kobs, and Toyota Buffaloes earned their spots via last year’s Uganda Cup semifinals. These four teams are deeply involved in the Premiership title race: Pirates, Victoria Sharks, and Buffaloes lead with 19 points, Kobs have 17, and Heathens trail closely on 16.

This weekend’s fixtures serve as a vital dress rehearsal. Pirates host Impis at Kings Park before facing KCB Rugby. Heathens welcome Victoria Sharks at Kyadondo ahead of their clash with defending champions Kabras Sugar. Buffaloes visit Rhinos at Kyambogo prior to taking on Menengai Oilers in Nairobi, while Kobs travel to Kakira Simbas before meeting Nondescripts.

Team leaders see the tournament as a key benchmark. Pirates captain Frank Kidega highlighted the chance to face Kenyan club opposition beyond national team levels. Kobs skipper Joseph Aredo called it a rare gauge of East African standing and exposure to new styles. Buffaloes coach Charles Onen stressed testing club-level gaps that feed national squads.

Uganda’s rugby history includes Kampala Rugby Club’s past triumphs in the Enterprise Cup, but recent struggles against Kenya make these matches essential.

Other Premiership action includes Mongers vs. Warriors, Hippos vs. Walukuba in Jinja, plus women’s matches like Thunderbirds vs. Panthers.

Enterprise Cup Quarterfinals (March 21): Pirates vs. KCB Rugby (Wankulukuku), Heathens vs. Kabras Sugar (Wankulukuku), Menengai Oilers vs. Buffaloes (Nairobi), Nondescripts vs. Kobs (Nairobi).
