A Diploma in Law student from the Law Development Centre, Gloria Grace Laker, appeared before Gulu Grade One Magistrate’s Court on Friday. She faces charges under the Computer Misuse Act for sharing court information without permission during her clerkship at Gulu High Court.
The alleged offence occurred between March 6 and 9, 2026, when Laker reportedly posted details from the criminal register on social media. Sources indicate the shared records involved charges against National Unity Platform leader Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, for making false statements about character, contravening section 25(9) of the Penal Code Act.
Laker pleaded not guilty. Investigations are complete, and the prosecution is prepared to proceed. Her bail bid failed as the handling state attorney was unavailable, leading to remand until March 17 for another hearing.
Her lawyer, Henry Komakech Kilama, noted that Laker was photographed and fingerprinted, questioning the process.
