Outspoken blogger Ashburg Katto has voiced demands for a slice of the Shs5 billion fund pledged by President Yoweri Museveni to empower Uganda’s digital content creators.
In a recent TV interview, Katto positioned himself as a trailblazer in the nation’s blogging space, insisting that his pioneering efforts warrant inclusion in the benefits.
“I initiated the blogging movement in content creation, and as a legend, I deserve respect and a part of the 5 billion for bloggers,” he declared.
The funds are set to flow through a SACCO led by media personality Isaac Katende, known as Kasuku, sparking keen interest and discussions on distribution among creators.
Katto, who has openly shared his financial hardships, views the support as vital to revive his role in the industry he helped establish.
This development has ignited broader conversations within Uganda’s content creation community about equitable fund allocation.
